Types of force

July 9, 2023 | by Bloom Code Studio

Q1

What is force?

Force is pushing or pulling any object resulting from the object’s interaction with another object. Without force, nothing can be moved, stopped or changed. It is a quantitative interaction between two physical bodies, between an object and its environment.

Q2

What is a normal force?

Normal Force refers to the force which acts when two surfaces are in contact. This force is perpendicular to the surface and acts in the direction out of the surface. For example, a box on top of a table.

Q3

Define contact forces.

Contact forces are the forces that occur due to the contact between two different objects.

Q4

What is non-contact force?

A non-contact force is a force applied to an object by another body that is not in direct contact with it. Non-contact forces come into play when objects do not have physical contact between them or when a force is applied without any interaction.

Q5

What is tension force?

This type of force is experienced by a rope or a string which holds an object. The tension force is always a pull not a push. The tension force is the same throughout the cable. For example, a ball hanging with the help of a string.
