There are various types of business ethics, each of which contributes to the implementation and maintenance of fair and moral business practices. Here are six primary types of business ethics you may encounter in your work life:

• Personal responsibility: Personal responsibility refers to all the individuals that work for a company, ranging from entry-level employees to the highest ranking executives, and the expectation that they can complete their tasks and duties on their own. 

• Corporate responsibility: Corporate responsibility reflects the ethical duties of the business itself, particularly toward its employees and board of directors. The company is responsible for ensuring that employees receive fair compensation and treatment while upholding contractual agreements. 

• Loyalty: Loyalty is a type of business ethics that reflects on both the business and its employees. Businesses can show loyalty to their customers by implementing rewards programs or other incentives that show appreciation for their engagement with the company, while employees can show loyalty by speaking positively about their employer in public. 

• Respect: It’s important that companies can show respect for their clients and employees. Ways to show respect in the workplace include actively listening to the opinions and thoughts of other people, following through on promises and rewarding them for hard work. 

• Trustworthiness: Trustworthiness is a business ethic that relies on the level of transparency the company has with its customers, clients and employees. It’s important that customers and employees feel comfortable trusting a business with their personal information and money. 

• Fairness: Companies can show fairness to their employees by evaluating them on similar standards, regardless of their standing in the company hierarchy. By having a set of company values they expect everyone to adhere to, businesses can encourage an equal and fair work culture.
